Wake up to Him

I am not a morning person.  I want to be.  I have always wanted to.  The challenge for me is setting the tone.  See, I can wake up to my alarm, even ahead of it.  But I would tarry (spell snooze) to make it just in time.  I am rarely late to anywhere.  Except to my own set time.  I can get up real early only to end up sluggish as I rarely call it a day until 12 midnight.  So really, what I want to achieve is to wake up with the sun (or earlier as needed), get through the day full of energy, and mellow out to sleeping early enough to get enough sleep.  And out of all of my trials and errors, I have every reason to bet on waking up to Him as the most potent elixir.

This week and this blog, then, will be devoted to cultivating this habit.  And more!

To outline my action plan:

  1. Sleep before 11 pm
  2. Wake up AND get up at 5:30 am
  3. Pray and Give Thanks, inhale, exhale, stretch
  4. Drink water
  5. Shower, drink water
  6. Read His Word and Praise Him
  7. Breakfast, finish drinking 1 bottle of water
  8. Affirm
  9. List and/or start work and priorities for the day
  10. Believe

By 7 am, head out to work for His glory 🙂

Day 2

She naps at about the same time as yesterday.  Good.  Hope this one becomes a routine.  When was the last time we had a routine, anyway?  I was the happiest mama when after bathing her around noontime, she’d nap straight away, sometimes while still being toweled.  Ah, sweet.  These moments are priceless.  Everyone should seriously consider having children.

Day 2 is all about reinforcing what’s started on Day 1 and adding at least one more.  I will tell you what’s up on Day 21, now that’s a clue.

Ephesians 3:20

Now all glory to God who is able, according to His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Day 1

Time check: 2:30 pm.  I have 1-2 hours until my toddler (I wanted to say tiny tot but she is technically not a baby anymore) awakens from her nap, recharged (stress on the last word, hah!).  I wanted to say toddler girl – but it doesn’t seem to matter – she’s as hyper, maybe even more, than my nephews when they were her age.  Most days I gladly go with her flow, of course, all the while trying to strike a balance and set some healthy pattern.  She is after all, my husband’s and my priority.  So it is within this premise, too, that I set out each day to job hunt and to find something value-adding to do.  On top of homemaker chores.  I am not the best juggler.  But I try.  Like today.  Blogging is not a priority but some days I need my “me time”.  And writing, I believe, is always a good thing to do.  Next to reading, it is is my dream occupation.  Sigh 🙂

At almost 19 months, my not-so-little girl shows all the more how playful and social she is.  So where most parents, I assume, do not look forward to sending their kids to daycare, we are actually excited for her to mingle.  Not full time, I pray she won’t have to.  We just want for her to devote some hours a few days each week to play school.  I know, it seems a bit early, but that’s my girl 🙂

I think about such things both fondly and a little sadly, sob!  Come to think of it, before you know it she’ll be in school and I won’t have my main occupation.  This is why I need a job sooner than I would have thought I’d need to.

(Hush she wakes up and looks for me.  I hold her for a few minutes and she goes back to sleep.  She (I) need(s) at least an hour more, please.)

Help me pray and land my dream job.

Father God, You know me best.  You know how much I want to care for my family.  At the same time, You know how much I want to help build this world to be a better place.  ThankY for landing me my dream job, one that glorifies You above all else.  I leave all the details to You because Your design is always the best.  Too, Your timing is perfect.  Meanwhile, may I never cease to give You thanks with a joyful heart.  As You continually bless me, may I always bless others as well.  Stay with me, Lord.  Empower me.  Bless my loved ones.  Bless our world, Your masterpiece.
